Selling to Realtors

Client Profile: Realtors (real estate agents) might overlap with stagers in some ways but typically, their focus is selling properties and pleasing their clients (sellers and buyers). Some realtors do light staging themselves for open houses or maintain nice offices where they meet clients. They also often send closing gifts to buyers/sellers.

Pain Points & Solutions:

  • Quick curb appeal and open house prep: A realtor running an open house wants the home to look great. Maybe they don’t have a budget for full staging, but a few plants could make a difference. For example, placing a couple of potted flowers by the front door, or a nice indoor plant in the entryway can spruce things up. We can offer “open house kits” – a small package of plants to temporarily enhance a property during showings. Realtors can rent these or buy low-maintenance ones they reuse.

  • Client gifts that stand out: Many realtors give a thank-you gift when a deal closes (commonly a bottle of champagne, etc.). How about gifting a subscription to plant service or a beautiful potted plant for the client’s new home? We can partner with realtors to provide a unique and lasting gift. For instance, “Sign a year of monthly small plant deliveries for your client” or simply a big congratulatory fiddle-leaf fig delivered to their door. This helps the realtor differentiate themselves and leave a lasting positive impression. (And guess what, it introduces the homeowner to The Mellow’s services too – a win-win!)

  • Office ambience: Realtors often have offices or lobbies where they meet buyers and sellers. These spaces need to exude professionalism and warmth. Wilting plastic plants won’t cut it when a nervous client comes in. We can maintain their office plants so that every meeting space has a fresh flower or greenery, reinforcing that this realtor pays attention to detail and care (subconsciously boosting client confidence).

  • Lack of time/expertise: Realtors are always on the move – showing houses, negotiating deals. They likely won’t become plant experts on top of that. By working with us, they can essentially “outsource” anything plant-related. They call us to setup an open house, done. Need to refresh that patio plant that died at a listing? We handle it. It’s like having a florist/gardener on-call, but specialized for interiors.

Messaging Tips: Emphasize convenience and client impressiveness. Realtors are very relationship-oriented, so frame plants as a way to deepen their client relationships. “We’ll help you impress buyers and delight your sellers.” For example: “Imagine gifting your seller a gorgeous peace lily for their new apartment – it’s a classy gift that lasts longer than champagne, and every time they water it they’ll remember you.”

For open houses: “In just 20 minutes of setup, we can transform a listing with a few strategic plants – freshening the air and making it feel like home. That could mean more offers.” Also mention our responsiveness: “We know real estate moves fast. Got an open house this Sunday? We can deliver a quick plant package by Saturday to make it pop.”

Speak to their goal of selling: “Ultimately, well-placed greenery can help buyers envision themselves living in the space, which is exactly what closes deals. We’re here to quietly help you make that happen.” And highlight that it’s one less thing for them to think about: “Focus on your clients and deals, let us handle the greenery magic in the background.”
